Case
Cornelsen Verlag, a Berlin-based publisher and one of Europe’s leading educational publishers, commissioned the devsuit team to develop a web application for a data warehouse environment. The key requirement was to capture, manage, and analyze complex contract and media data, with integration into the Woodwing Assets media management system and SAP.
Solution
devsuit adopted a high-performance approach to development: The web-based solution, built on the modern Django framework, meets high standards for performance, stability, and quick and easy scalability.
Components of the Web Application
Key elements of the application include interactive forms, standardized interfaces to other IT systems, and automated workflows within a complex business logic.
Implementation with Django and Vue.js
The custom and complex forms for contract entry were created using the JavaScript framework Vue.js. This allowed our team to ensure easy maintenance and scalability—Vue.js is one of the leading frontend frameworks and is characterized by a high degree of flexibility.
Interfaces
The software architecture includes interfaces to multiple IT systems such as Woodwing Asset, SAP, and Microsoft Active Directory. devsuit connected these systems to the web application via a REST interface to centrally provide exactly the relevant data required for executing business processes.
Easy login with Single Sign-On (SSO)
With Single Sign-On (SSO), users of the web application can access this and other services in their web browser without having to log in repeatedly. Authentication is secure and fast via the connection to Microsoft Active Directory (AD).
Process automation with RPA services
By automating sub-processes, recurring tasks can be performed efficiently and the comparability of results ensured. Workflow automation, as an implementation of Business Process Automation (BPA), was based on Business Process Models (BPM).
Asynchronous data processing
To enable the processing and verification of millions of data records in a short time, we use so-called Celery clusters in the backend for asynchronous processing. These clusters increase processing speed and thus contribute to the performance and stability of the overall system.
Timeline
Less than 30 days passed from the kick-off to the implementation of the core features in a first version. In an agile project, this is no magic trick, but the result of consistent prioritization.
